UK Undergraduate Scholarship Imperial Inspires 2027
The Imperial undergraduate course closes on UCAS on January 13, 2027. Both dates matter if you want the UK Undergraduate Scholarship Imperial Inspires 2027, because you cannot apply for this £15,000-per-year award until you have an Imperial application in the system and Imperial invites you.
The scholarship is for new international students who pay the Overseas rate of tuition and who apply to a full-time undergraduate course in one of four faculties. The scholarship application closes at 23:59 UK time on February 5, 2027, and Imperial says it will email outcomes no later than April 30, 2027. As of October 9, 2026, Imperial’s page says scholarship applications open in October, with the exact date still to be confirmed, and that it was not accepting them yet. Imperial names no countries, so Pakistani students qualify on the same basis as everyone else: eligibility for the Overseas fee rate.

Who Can Apply
To be eligible you must be an international student who is eligible to pay the Overseas rate of tuition, and you must be applying for a full-time undergraduate course in the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Medicine or Imperial College Business School. The scholarship is for new entrants only. Students already studying the course are not eligible.
Imperial lists all full-time, on-campus undergraduate courses as eligible. The scholarship search page names these departments: Aeronautics, Bioengineering, Business School, Centre for Environmental Policy, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computing, Design Engineering, Earth Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Life Sciences, Materials, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, and the School of Medicine.
Your fee status decides whether you qualify, and Imperial says a change in fee status during the year ends the award. Check how Imperial has assessed your status before you count on this money.
Dates and Steps for the 2027 Round
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| October 15, 2026 | UCAS deadline for MBBS |
| October 2026 (exact date not yet confirmed) | Scholarship applications open. Undergraduate applicants are invited to complete an optional essay question from October 2026 |
| January 13, 2027 | UCAS deadline for all other Imperial undergraduate courses |
| February 5, 2027, 23:59 UK time | Scholarship application deadline |
| By April 30, 2027 | Scholarship outcome sent by email |
The process has four steps:
- Apply to Imperial through UCAS by the deadline for your course.
- Wait for your invitation. If a scholarship is available for your course and you meet the minimum entry and eligibility requirements, Imperial invites you to apply. The invitation asks for an optional statement of 250 words on why you want to study at Imperial.
- Submit the scholarship application by 23:59 UK time on February 5, 2027.
- Receive the outcome by email.
So the scholarship deadline is not your first deadline. Your UCAS date comes earlier, and you only reach the scholarship form if Imperial invites you. Imperial’s terms and conditions say UK undergraduate scholarship will be awarded by mid-April 2027, while its application pages say outcomes come by April 30. Plan for either date.
How Imperial Chooses
Imperial says it assesses applicants on academic merit and potential. It looks for evidence of ability and commitment to your subject in your UCAS application, your admissions test and your interview. The optional 250-word statement may also be considered. The scholarship is discretionary and very competitive, and not every applicant succeeds. The information in your scholarship application does not affect the decision on your admission.
Imperial calls the 250-word statement optional and says it may be considered. The same passage names the UCAS application, admissions test and interview as the main evidence, so most of your preparation time belongs in the admissions application itself. Imperial does not say whether skipping the statement lowers your chance, so treat that as unknown.
What the £15,000 Covers and the Rules After You Win
The award is £15,000 a year for the full length of your course. It does not cover repeated years and is not paid while you are on an interruption of studies. Imperial’s faculty decides how the money is split between tuition fees and a living stipend, and your award letter shows the split. £15,000 is a fixed sum. These scholarship pages do not state Imperial’s Overseas tuition fee or total costs, so compare the award against Imperial’s own fees pages before you plan your budget.
- Payment: the tuition part is paid directly to Imperial. The stipend part goes to your UK bank account, paid monthly on the 7th. New undergraduates are paid from October 7 if their bank details are in My Imperial and they are fully registered.
- Progress: the award depends on satisfactory academic progression. If it lasts longer than 11 months, Imperial reviews it every year.
- Donors: you may be asked to thank or update the donors behind the award, including by attending events. Travel costs for these are not necessarily refunded.
- Other awards: you cannot hold another award alongside a full scholarship, meaning one that covers tuition and living costs by Imperial’s Cost of Living in London figures. Holding several partial awards is decided case by case, and you must tell the Scholarships team about any other award right away.
- Changes: the award stops if you withdraw, if you are not registered, or if your fee status changes. It pauses during an interruption and restarts when you re-enrol. If you repeat a year, it is postponed until you move on.
Imperial’s terms say scholarships cannot be deferred. If you defer your place, the scholarship is withdrawn, and you must reapply in the admissions cycle for your new year of entry.
Notes for Pakistani Applicants
Imperial’s scholarship pages name no countries and give no Pakistan-specific route. Eligibility rests on Overseas fee status and on your admission. Check Imperial’s own pages for how your school qualification is treated, because those pages were not part of this check. One practical point from the terms: the stipend goes to a UK bank account, and Imperial warns that setting one up can take a few weeks, so plan to have enough money for your first weeks of living costs.
