Edith Cowan University Nursing Scholarship 2027 in Australia
Pakistani students searching for an Edith Cowan University (ECU) nursing scholarship will find two awards worth 20%. Only one of them applies to nursing. The ECU International Excellence Scholarship names Pakistan, but its course list excludes the Bachelor of Science (Nursing) (C33). The award that does cover C33 is the First-Year International Scholarship, which cuts first-year tuition by 20% and is open to international students from any country.
That makes it a modest discount, not a full scholarship. This guide is based on ECU’s own scholarship, course and application pages, checked on November 3, 2026. It explains what the discount is worth, who qualifies, the English scores nursing requires, how Pakistani applicants apply, and the conditions that can end the award.
This Is Not a Full Scholarship
The award reduces first-year tuition only, by 20%. It does not cover living costs, health cover or later years, and the scholarship page says it can be used only for tuition fees. ECU also states that it can withdraw the scholarship at any time and decides how many are awarded.

What the 20% Is Actually Worth
ECU lists an estimated first-year fee of AUD $40,800 for international students on this course. It says this is only a guide, because you pay for each unit you enrol in, and fees are adjusted every year. The table applies the 20% to that estimate. It is our own arithmetic, tuition only, and it is not an official figure.
| Item | Amount (AUD) |
|---|---|
| Indicative first-year tuition | 40,800 |
| 20% reduction (our arithmetic) | 8,160 |
| Tuition left to pay in year one (our arithmetic) | 32,640 |
Years two and three are not discounted. If fees stayed at the indicative level, the AUD 8,160 would be roughly one fifteenth of three years of tuition. That is our rough calculation and not an official figure, because ECU adjusts fees yearly.
Editorial Note
The scholarship page links the discount to a three-year offer without credit recognition for prior learning. If you already hold a diploma or other study that could earn credit, the credit may shorten your course but it also removes you from this award. Ask ECU to compare both outcomes in writing before you accept an offer, because the page says the scholarship is not given to students who receive that credit.
Two 20% Awards, Only One for Nursing
| Award | Value | Who it covers | Nursing (C33)? |
|---|---|---|---|
| First-Year International Scholarship | 20% of first-year tuition | International students from any country | Yes. This is the award for C33 |
| International Excellence Scholarships | 20% of tuition for the whole course | Citizens of India, Pakistan, Nepal and Kenya with high academic results | No. C33 is on the page’s exclusion list (the 2025–26 round page, the latest we could open) |
| C33 Regional Living Allowance Bursary | AUD 1,500 in total for first-year entry, paid as two instalments of AUD 750 | New international students at the South West (Bunbury) campus in 2026 or 2027 | Yes, Bunbury only |
The bursary is paid after the census date of each of the first two semesters, and ECU identifies eligible students automatically. The Excellence page says recipients should not hold another ECU scholarship. None of the pages we read say whether the 20% scholarship and the bursary can be combined, so ask ECU before you count both.

Who Can Apply
- You are an international student, not an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or New Zealand citizen.
- You receive a three-year offer for the Bachelor of Science (Nursing) (C33) and start in Semester One or Semester Two, 2027.
- You study onshore at ECU Joondalup or ECU South West (Bunbury).
- You meet both the academic and English entry requirements.
- You do not receive credit recognition for prior learning towards the course.
- You are a prospective student, not a current ECU student.
One mismatch is worth noting. The scholarship page allows either semester at either campus, but the course page lists the South West campus for international students in Semester One only, with Semester Two at Joondalup. Confirm your campus and intake before you plan around the Bunbury bursary.
Entry and English Requirements for Nursing
ECU lists an indicative ATAR of 70 for the course, and says international applicants are assessed on their secondary school results. It adds that a science subject at school level is desirable. Nursing also needs English that meets the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) standard, on top of ECU’s own minimum. These are the tests the course page lists:
| Test | Minimum for nursing |
|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | 7.0 overall and 7.0 in each of listening, reading, writing and speaking |
| OET | Grade B in all four components |
| PTE Academic | 65 overall and 65 in each skill |
| TOEFL iBT | 94 total, with 24 listening, 24 reading, 27 writing and 23 speaking |
English tests must be taken within 2 years of the course start, and extra rules may apply to repeat sittings or combined scores. The page also accepts long English-medium schooling in a country recognised by the NMBA, with a written declaration. We did not check whether Pakistan appears on that list, so ask ECU before relying on it.
How Pakistani Applicants Apply
Pakistan Note
Agent requirement. ECU’s applying page says applicants from Pakistan who intend to apply for a student visa must apply through an ECU authorised agent. Use the agent list on ECU’s own website, and remember that the scholarship is assessed by ECU automatically, with no extra form. School results. ECU keeps a country-by-country guide to the secondary results it accepts. We could not read the Pakistan entry, so we state no minimum marks. Ask ECU how your results are assessed. Not verified. We did not check HEC or IBCC equivalence, visa financial evidence or Pakistan Nursing Council rules, so this guide states none. ECU tells overseas applicants to use the Document Checklist tool on the Department of Home Affairs website before lodging a visa.
- Choose your intake and campus, after checking the semester availability on the course page.
- Prepare your English test and school results. Book the test early, because the scores must fit the 2-year window.
- Apply for the course through an ECU authorised agent if you need a student visa. Allow at least 10 working days for processing, and upload all documents.
- Read your Letter of Offer. If you qualify, the scholarship details come inside it.
- Accept the offer by the deadline, meet any conditions, and pay the tuition deposit and Overseas Student Health Cover (if applicable).
- Wait for the Confirmation of Enrolment before you apply for a student visa. ECU issues it after you accept and pay the required fees.
Key Dates
| Item | Date | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Scholarship listing | 1 July 2026 to 31 December 2027 | This is the listing window. Course application cut-offs are set separately by ECU |
| Semester 1, 2027 application dates | Not published | ECU’s important dates page still showed Semester 2, 2026 dates when we checked |
| Semester 2, 2026 (for reference only) | Overseas applicants: apply by 25 May 2026, accept and pay by 1 June 2026 | The page named Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal in an earlier row. Pakistan was not named, so the all-regions row appears to have applied |
| Semester start | Usually late February and late July | From ECU’s glossary. Check the exact 2027 dates |
Treat the 2026 row as a pattern, not a deadline. ECU advises applying as early as possible, and says its dates can change without notice because of visa processing times.
What the Course Involves
- 800 hours of clinical practice are part of the course.
- ECU registers every student with the NMBA before the course starts, so you do not apply for student registration yourself.
- You must complete clinical orientation, risk training, vaccinations and clearances before placements.
- Placements run on rostered shifts covering 24 hours, including weekends and public holidays, and students are expected not to take paid work during full-time placement blocks.
- South West students travel to Perth for some placements and pay their own travel and accommodation.
- Graduates may apply for registration with the NMBA, which is required to practise as a registered nurse.
Conditions That Can End the Discount
The scholarship is conditional every semester. The terms ECU lists include:
- Staying in good financial and academic standing (Green status).
- Enrolling full-time at 60 credit points each semester, unless a reduced load is approved.
- Starting on time. The commencement of the scholarship cannot be deferred, and later deferral is limited to one semester unless ECU approves it.
- Paying tuition by the stated deadlines. Late payment can end the discount and move you to full international fees.
- Keeping to your student visa conditions and telling ECU about any change of circumstances.
- Staying in the same course. The scholarship cannot move to another course, to second or third-year entry, to another campus outside Western Australia, or to another university.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the 20% apply to all three years?
No. The scholarship page says the reduction applies to the first year of the three-year course. The International Excellence Scholarship runs for the whole course, but it excludes C33.
Do I need to apply for the scholarship separately?
No. ECU says eligible applicants are assessed automatically when they apply for the course, and scholarship details appear in the Letter of Offer.
Is there a nursing scholarship only for Pakistani students?
We did not find one. The only Pakistan-named award we found, the International Excellence Scholarship, excludes the Bachelor of Science (Nursing) (C33).
